Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a whole body system of medicine that integrates many therapies and is applied by practitioners to maintain optimal health. Acupuncture and Chinese herbology are the most popular Chinese Medicine therapies in the United States. Some additional therapies include: diet, nutrition and lifestyle counseling, Tai Qi and Qi Gong (physical exercise), and Tui’na (manual therapies). TCM focuses on correcting imbalances, which stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself. In other words, TCM focuses on treating the root factors that cause diseases.

Acupuncture is a medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat and prevent illness for over 2,000 years. Acupuncture is proven to remedy acute or chronic ailments, relieve pain, enhance recuperative powers, and strengthen the immune system. Treatment includes placing extremely fine, flexible, and single-use sterilized disposable needles at specific points on the body. This is a completely safe method and since the needles are much thinner than those used to give shots, the procedure is less painful. When the needles are inserted you may experience a sensation of tingling or warmth. People are surprised to find that treatments are actually quite relaxing and extremely effective. Side effects to acupuncture are very low and safer than most modern forms of treatment.
